Choosing a Hypnotist How to Choose the Best Hypnotist for You
Choosing the right hypnotist for you doesn't have to be complicated when you know what to look for. Recommendations from your healthcare provider or friends whose opinion you value can be a good place to start. Here are some important things to consider when contacting the practitioner's office:
Find out how much experience the prospective practitioner has had in your area of need. How long have they been in full-time practice in your community? Is hypnosis their specialty, or does s/he only use it occasionally in their field of practice? Do they have experience in addressing the problem you want to address or in attaining the goal you want to achieve? How many clients for this have they worked with? How many successfully?
How well the person you speak with answers these questions is usually a good indicator of their knowledge base. If you are satisfied with the responses to these questions, ask yourself, "Do I feel comfortable with this person?"
Finally, when you sit down with the practitioner you should feel at ease when speaking with them. Attempting to work with someone who may be highly qualified but with whom you have no rapport or with someone you don't feel you can trust will only serve to interfere with your progress. All research suggests that the single-most important factor for successful hypnosis is a good relationship between hypnotist and client.
................................... Note: Ask anyone you're considering, "Are you a certified hypnotist and by whom?" The National Guild of Hypnotists is the oldest and largest worldwide non-profit certifying organization. Whomever you choose, s/he should be certified by the Guild or some other institution or organization recognized by it and have had a minimum of 100 hours of training - not just a weekend seminar.
